Scotland!

After a 5:00am wake up call and a nice 7 hour flight we landed at Heathrow London! There were a couple of slight hiccups..
It may be a very very very quick stop in London for now, but we can already tell that we are going to like it here.
The taxi’s are super cool, and there really are double decker buses everywhere!
We stayed at the easyHotel, in the smallest hotel room I have ever seen in my life. There was a bed and a bathroom so small that the toilet was halfway in the shower, the only spare room was enough for the door to swing open and closed. It was actually a pretty cool place, and I think from now on we can expect quite a few more nights in those kind of rooms.
One nice part was the pub down the road, a traditional English pub just like on the movies. Sam trialled the English specialty of ‘bangers and mash’ and of course loved it, and I had my first pint.

Another bright and early rise, a taxi ride, an hour bus ride and we are off to Scotland!

Dad picked us up from the Edinburgh airport and we spent the day exploring the city. The Scottish accent is awesome, I could sit and listen to it all day. We wandered up the Royal Mile, an old cobblestone street, and saw the Edinburgh Castle. It’s such a cool place! It’s so old. The buildings are all stone, there are cobblestone streets everywhere, as well as small, hidden stone alleys. There is so much history here, it’s hard to comprehend just how old this place is. Nothing in Australia or America could ever compare.
The castle is spectacular, sitting high and overlooking the city.
Of course there is both old and new. The newer areas are still very nice and they have tried hard to maintain the aesthetic of the city. There are all the popular stores and malls as well as more pubs and restaurants than you could imagine. Again Topshop just isn’t as good when you can’t buy anything!
