LA

And we are off again...

Early mornings are definitely not our strong suit, but we managed to stumble our way to Brisbane and then the long haul over to LA. We were extremely lucky to have an incredibly empty flight, we both managed to get three seats to ourselves. It was so good to be able to actually lie down and get a good sleep (10 hours for me! Sam only got a couple.) I don't think we really could have had a better flight and I doubt we will ever luck out like that again.

It was a quick drive to our hostel on Venice Beach and before long we found ourselves on the bus to Hollywood.
LA buses are quite the experience... The whole bus reeked of weed (medicinal marijuana is legal) and BO with most of the users being homeless. One lady started an argument with a couple of others on the bus, it was hilarious, she was going off and some stoner guy was just telling her she needed to find god.

It's such a shock to the system, seeing all the homeless people and such a dirty city.
I think we all imagine all of LA to be as pristine and put together as Beverly Hills, but it most definitely isn't. It's as if there is an imaginary bubble that surrounds Beverly Hills and Bel Air and outside that bubble is just a dirty, dangerous and uncomfortable city.

Though the bus was definitly not a comfortable way to travel (especially as it got dark) we did have a good day exploring the tourist basics. We caught a tour bus around and had a quick look down Rodeo Drive and through Beverly Hills and Bel Air. A nice view of the Hollywood sign and a look down at the whole city of LA was a nice way to end the tour.

We stopped in at The Grove shopping centre on the way home, it was good but only left me wishing my pack wasn't quite so full! We spotted Joel Madden and his son, which was pretty cool.

Back to the hostel, 7:30pm and Sam is already asleep.
